The Vactrol Pattern Synthesizer
This box is the outcome of an experiment with a CMOS binary counter/divider chip [CD4040]. The circuit is basically a single lfo as the clock for the divider and each 4040 output is summed to a single vactrol [led coupled w/ photo resistor]. This, in turn is controlling the pitch of a single square-wave oscillator. The result is beautiful 8-bit type video-game sounds.
