Yip Yip,
9p / 18+ / $5
Yip-Yip was formed in March of 2001, featuring the music and art of Brian Esser & Jason Temple. They have played shows with acts like Lightning Bolt, Xiu Xiu, Glass Candy, Animal Collective, xbxrx, Buckethead, and more, and were chosen by Orlando Weekly Readers as ‘Best Electronic Act’ in 2004, 2005, and 2006. Plus, they’re packing a Casio DH-100 electronic breath-controlled saxophone and tons of circuit bent goodies.. How can you go wrong?
When pressed for a placement within a genre, the 7-member “AWESOME” cites Absurdist Garage Art-Pop with Indie-Prog Sensibilities. Pressed with comparisons to bands you know, they point to a triangulation between the Beatles, They Might Be Giants, and Ween. Simply, it’s like this: Multiple vocalists sing dense, lush harmonies while playing trumpet, accordion, guitar, mandolin, banjo, typewriter, kitchen utensils, and anything else lying around that might make an interesting sound.
Eyes Like Candy promises to bring the flaming pink Copoc noise, quite possibly melting your brain in the process.
