Feelin’ a mellow mood this week, so this show lays it on heavy with the atmosphere and drone. Day stopped in to lend his special touch of madness to the last half hour of the set, much to my delight. As technical difficulties were in no shortage (no monitor speakers, half-working headphones, and a malfunctioning CD player), I didn’t have time to create a proper playlist. Roughly though, the show featured the works of Greg Davis, Andrew Pekler, Alastair Galbraith, The Books, Sunburned Hand Of The Man, Pleasurehorse, Autechre, The Hafler Trio, Tortoise, Venetian Snares, Richard Devine, Glenn Branca, Gert-Jan Prins, Crispin Hellion Glover (whose absolutely wild interpretation of Nancy Sinatra is not to be missed), Keith Fullerton Whitman / Hrvatski, Lexaunculpt, Boom Bip, DoseOne, Steve Reich, Black Forest / Black Sea, ether, Brian Eno, and innumerable others. Thanks for all the great calls - If’n you all have any requests for next week, let ‘em fly in the comments.

I listened to this again tonight. Real nice atmosphere in the first half & another great all around show, not bad for half of a working studio. I must have jumped into the mix in the middle of the looping laugh track. I think things did get quite a bit more dynamic there for a little while towards the end. I liked how you subtly built some layers up over the minimal effects I was making with the harmonizer in Studio 2. For anyone wondering, in the last half hour there I was cutting loops out of, and manipulating ‘The Broken Record’ album from the awfully titled ‘Twink.’
