In his unrelenting pursuit to frame Montana as the most bigoted and ass-backward state in the nation, Conrad Burns recently warned “guests” at his $250-a-plate ice cream social (featuring first lady Laura Bush) that the U.S. faces a serious threat from “faceless” terrorists that “drive taxi cabs in the daytime and kill at night”.

Spoken exactly like the clueless asshat that we all know and love. This comes, of course, hot on the heels of his recent reference to his house painter as “a nice little Guatemalan man“.

Laura Bush, the lady of the evening, had nothing but praise for her favorite neo-con lap dog:

Ending our dependence on foreign oil, reforming our immigration system, rebuilding the Gulf Coast and keeping our country safe from terrorism are not easy tasks, but they’re absolutely vital goals. And to accomplish them, we must have serious national conversations conducted with civility and respect, and Conrad Burns is a positive and powerful part of that dialogue.

And so it goes… Life continues it’s imitation of art as Conrad Burns takes one more baby-step toward his eventual and impending transformation into that other (in)famous money-grubbing Burns.

What I do find interesting is that, whie coming from different ideologies, we share exactly the same frustrations with our elected officials. We’re all tired of bullshit blurbs designed to shape public opinion so that our ‘leaders’ can sit back and say that they are just ‘following the will of the people’. I could go on for several paragraphs ranting about the political un-correctness of Burns’ statement, but that would distract from the point: Burns is an idiot, and for Mrs. Bush to call these statements anything resembling ‘civility and respect’ is purely assinine.

Is it any wonder that we, the American public, are confused, pissed, apathetic, or just willing to be dumbed-down, rather than to spend the hours a day that it would take to sort through this B.S.?

All I have to say is: www.nota.org
On election day, vote for ‘None of the Above’!
